Contemporary Bathroom Lighting

For the love of bathroom light fixtures, furniture, and more.

Modern bathrooms have become far more creative and they’ve often become a popular place for people to wind down and enjoy themselves inside a high.  Contemporary bathroom lighting has taken on an increasingly important role as bathrooms have increased in size.  While one or two units of lights were formerly needed, many bathrooms need the addition of multiple units and effective planning with respect to contemporary bathroom lighting becomes a must.

With a new found need for this form of lighting, architects and interior designers have been faced with the challenge of making sure that lighting is properly planned when it comes to larger, contemporary bathrooms.   As a result, there are various light forms that must be considered when it comes to the world of contemporary bathroom lighting.

First of all, there’s ambient light.  If you have a contemporary or larger bathroom, you may notice a big ceiling light set in the center of your bathroom.  This is most likely your ambient light.  The benefits to ambient light are its dimming features, as the glow can often set the mood in a bathroom, not to mention the fact that it’s usually flattering on skin tones.  Certain things like recessed lights and pendant lamps can add to the look and feel of ambient light in contemporary bathroom lighting arrangements.

Another form of lighting in contemporary bathrooms is the task light.  This is something used by those who have vanity mirrors, or those who need specific light that makes it easier to do things like apply makeup, shave, brush teeth, comb hair, and the other things we typically do in the bathroom that require the ability for us to see our own faces.  You’ll generally want this to be as bright as possible when it comes to putting together your contemporary bathroom lighting arrangement.  If you recess it, put it in the ceiling, or do anything else to cause shadows, it can make the job of personal grooming a little more difficult than it needs to be.

You’ll also want task lights above your shower or bath when it comes to contemporary bathroom lighting.  These are obviously specific to the task at hand, and will light up portions of the bathroom based on what’s needed at the time.  In these cases, recessed ceiling fixtures work best above bathtubs and covered ceiling lights in showers.

The last piece of your contemporary bathroom lighting arrangement will be accent light.  While it’s by no means essential, it’s a nice added touch that many people appreciate.  If you have certain pieces in your bathroom like artwork, ceramics, or other sculptures, an accent light can add another layer of warmth and sophistication to your contemporary bathroom lighting setup.
While it’s not necessary by any means, you may want to consider this for some extra layering in your bathroom.

With that said, you’ll now have information on just about everything you’ll need when it comes to contemporary bathroom lighting.  There are many great deals on sets being offered and you’d be doing yourself a favor to explore as much as you can.  Find a reliable retailer whose customers seem happy with their purchases, and you’ll be well on your way.
